Mexico Travel Update – UK Holiday Flights Axed

April 28, 2009

Swine Flu

It’s been reported that Thomas Cook have now axed flights to Cancun in Mexico until 5th May amid growing fears of a worldwide pandemic of Swine Flu.  The holiday company has also confirmed that it is bringing holiday makers already in Mexico home early.  Sky news is also reporting that Thomson have also cancelled flights leaving for Mexico too.

The growing number of reported confirmed cases of Swine Flu is causing holiday makers to rethink their travel plans.  Families that are already out in Mexico have been deciding if they are going to cut short their stay or carry on as normal.

Although the CDC are stating that there is no pandemic of Swine Flu yet, they have increased the warning to 4/6 on the pandemic scale.  In the UK there is now two confirmed cases of Swine Flu with another 7 people showing flu like symptoms who were in contact with the confirmed cases.

With another blow to the Mexican people, an earthquake hit the already devastated city yesterday along with a reported earthquake in the UK.
