Mexico Hit By Powerful Earthquake

The already struggling residents of Mexico City where yesterday rocked as a powerful earthquake hit measuring almost 6 on the richter scale.

Although no reports have yet emerged about damage or casualties, an earthquake of that magnitude has the power to cause server damage.  With the residents already trying to come to terms with the Swine Flu outbreaks, this was yet another blow for them.

People were evacuated from office buildings and casually walked to designated meeting spots.  The overall impression was that of calm and something that they did routinely.  Mexican residents are well rehearsed in the evacuation drills that happen regularly.

At a time when the  Mayor of Mexico City is considering ‘shutting down’ the city, the earthquake couldn’t have come at a worse time.

Although there are talks of the city being closed, it is unknown if it will happen or when.  It’s also not yet confirmed if it will mean an evacuation of the city or just no admittance by outsiders.
