EU Wants Blackbox Installed On Your Computer

Government Internet MonitoringEU MEP Tiziano Motti from Italy wants to protect the children of the world and he wants to do it by installing a black box on your computer.  Everything you do would be logged and stored and that information would act as an early warning system.

It seems that the early warning system would basically log your online activities and alert the authorities to any criminal activity you might be involved with.  Although it was specific about child abuse images, there was no clear plan on what would be stored, how long it would be stored or who would have access to the information.

Luckily, MEP Lars Christian Engstrom from Swenden was quick to ask “If it were China, North Korea or Saudi Arabia who had proposed this, what would we say then?

It’s scary in a democratic Europe to even hear a politician suggest such a thing. It is so absurd that I really hope we never have to discuss it seriously in Parliament.”

The UK government already has a limited monitoring system in place at monitoring communication but not content but it seems the new government wants to revive a central database that they vowed to abolish before the election.
