From what I can gather (and hoping that I understand what you mean), the seismograms on the other islands are picking up the noise from El Hierro. For more information from people who are fantastic at getting answers try visiting Jon Frimann's Blog.

Emma, this is massive news where I am which is not too far away from the island. What we all want to know is are the volcano’s connected like some are saying? Does this why we are seeing the increasing on the other detectors?

Personally I don’t think that people are seeing the bigger picture. All we keep hearing about is ‘good science’ v’s ‘bad science’ and ‘what we now know about volcanos’ …

Let’s face it. We only ever guess about what ‘could’ or ‘should’ be happening with them. Sometimes they just creep up on us and take us by surprise by doing something no one saw coming.

I think you have hit the nail on the head – it IS the residents of the island that must be going through a terrible time. It can be frustrating for us ‘watching’ and not really knowing what is happening but they are living through it.

Emma, this is a great piece of work that you have done here.

You have clearly spent time and effort getting the facts right and producing them in such a way that we all understand them.

I’ve also sent you an email as it seems that some are mistaking you for a reporter that works somewhere else! Just ignore the comment about this site being weird, I think its brilliant and that you do a great job.
